I would run the Columbia Gorge Marathon again and every year after. This was fun and with spectacular views. I felt like I was on top of the world and I was ready for the challenge. I am so happy to have been able to participate with down to earth people that share the same goals in life. Now I know I am hooked on running marathons and I look forward to running many more. I feel younger than ever.
The best rural marathon I’ve done. Totally different from a city marathon, so I’m not gonna compare there. But this one is fantastic!
I ran it in 2000 (incredibly hard and hilly); 2001 (tons better, as the Moser tunnels opened up that year, and I placed 2nd overall!); and 2010.
Close to this time last year I truly thought all of the participants picking up their packets on pre-race day at Shortt Supply were absolutely nuts. The weather, in my opinion, was dreadful. Cold and rainy. At that time in my life I hadn’t run past 3/4 of a mile. Fast forward almost a year and I’ll be running in the half marathon relay this Sunday…first 8 miles in my life. I’m stoked to be part of this madness with the die hard athletes and newbies like me, rain or shine. Bring it on baby!
Wow! This is gonna be one beauty of a course! Do I run or take photos?!!
Yea, I ran the various courses set back in 2000 and 2001 too. Lots of fun and fresh air. Looking forward to this one coming up as well.
So excited for this race… the photos of the course look amazing…
One of the most beautiful marathons I have done. Everyone should do this one.
Did the half last year…thinking I’ll give the full a go this year. The Columbia Gorge is one of my favorite places on the planet!
Quads, hamstrings, calves, feet, trained for the endurance, memorized self pep talks, mp3 playlists…let’s see….I THINK I AM ALMOST READY TO RUN THIS CHALLENGE ONCE AGAIN:) BRING IT ON!!!!

“Thank you for a great event and beautiful race! Now, please share your secret on how you haulted all the rain that morning?? :)”
“The event is beautiful and exactly as advertised. It’s just as your reviewers have described–not sure I’ll be able to look at an urban race the same way again. I’ll be back and bring friends.”
“I can’t thank you ladies enough for this service. This was my 8th marathon and this was the first “morning after” that I’ve ever been able to navigate my stairs comfortably, even after a nasty 5 hour drive post race. You made my day for sure!!”
“What a wonderful event! Columbia Gorge Half Marathon 2012”
Thanks. It was my first 1/2 marathon and I had a great time!
Such a great event, thank you for letting dogs in!! Mikey had a great time 🙂
Thank you for hosting such a great race. It was well worth the trip from Minnesota. I will be back.

Had a blast, even the weather was perfect, but I have to admit that I thought about staying home when I left Portland at 7 AM in the dark and pouring rain. Thank you for a great race.
Awesome race today!! Thank you for putting together such an amazing event!!

Great race, beautiful scenery and many hills as promised. My blistered toe didn’t appreciate it, but all was worth it, and a new PR!
Scenery can’t be beat! I LOVED the half marathon course. And, when I clapped for the guy who won the half, when I was at mile 4 and he was at mile 8, he gave me a thumbs up! That made my day!
Good work on the weather 🙂 Seriously, though, I would have loved it even in a steady rain, it’s a great course.
This was an amazing marathon! Well organized and the course was beautiful. And kudos to you for making the only race medal I’ve won that I actually like! Nice job!
My first marathon experience was excellent! I knew what I was getting into and loved every minute of it. Only downside was post race as it wasn’t very inviting for the 5 hr finisher…but I knew everyone else had been there for hours. Thank you for the great race!!
We traveled from Minnesota to run this race and we were very pleased with everything from packet pickup to the festivities after the run. Great Job!
I just got home from Hood River. The half marathon was fantastic this year. I really like this route better, even if it did mean a 2.5 up hill run. This is by far the prettiest, most scenic, fun, and well-organized half marathon in the Pacific Northwest. This is my second time and I’ll be back next year for certain. Thanks,g

Ran the half and loved it. This is my favorite race I have run so far, the scenery was out of control and the perks, that taco bar was just what I needed. Breakfast too?! You guys were great, ill run this again (even though it was HARD, so many hills!) and ill bring people with me. So much better than a jam packed huge race (and I really like those!)
It was even more beautiful than Big Sur—-harder too!
Our training seriously fell through but we had signed up and (even if we had to walk the whole thing) we were going to finish it. Even not training like I should have I couldn’t believe how great I felt. It was beautiful and very welcoming for my first race back in a while! Thank you for putting on a spectacular one!

I love this race and I love the views: no matter how hard it is on my legs (and it’s VERY HARD), the view gives me goosebumps!
One of the highlights of this year’s Columbia Gorge Marathon event is the amazing job done by the timing partner NSpire. They were unbelievable. The fact that you could cross the finish line walk over to the hospitality tent and immediately see your splits.
